Brake line help please

I have a 68 that has a 72 5-lug rearend swapped in it now. I am trying to hook up the rubber flex hose but it does not mount like the 68 did. The 72 has a tab above on the rear brace and the 68 had the hose connected on the side of the frame. I already know the lines are run different on the axle and the "T" block is mounted differently but it's the top I can't figure out how to make work. What have you guys done to make this work?

did you buy the 68 hose or the 72 hose? I had to do the same thing so I drilled a hole in the cross member, cut a three sided square around it with a cutoff wheel. Then I bent it out, just like the 72 frame has. Used a file to put a small notch in the hole that holds the hose, installed the retainer, and rerouted the brake line. Hope that helps. You just have to get a little creative. Or you could just weld the tab on the rearend and use all of your 68 stuff.

I was going to go the 72 hose route and cut out the tab as u suggested. With all these earlier trucks converted all the time I would think there would have been a lot of responses to this question. Unfortunately the 72 hose is way more expensive than the 68. Argh!

I actually didn't use the hose from a 72. I just searched the napa website for a hose with the correct fittings and length. It was only about $13 and they had it in stock at my local Napa. I'll see if I can find the part number.

I would just run a '68 hose and bend new steel lines for the rearend housing.
