Arrow The Cure For Cancer?

On a previous post http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...ghlight=cancer

I had found this on my cab, only problem with the cab. rockers, corners all good. well suggestions ran with everything from. patch it temp. to replace the cab. Well I may have come up with a solution. shave the rail then deal with making the patch panel or cap the drip rail like this http://www.ifcustom.com/projects/pro...ngutters12.jpg
http://www.ifcustom.com/projects/pro...ingutters1.jpg
http://www.ifcustom.com/projects/pro...avistruck3.jpg
and the entire page is.
http://www.ifcustom.com/projects/pro...es/travis.htm.

looking for comments or suggestions. so far I an leaning toward capping them. 1. not seen it too much. 2. This is my daily driver and this seems to be the most feasable.
now the question I also have is. should i do something with the metal underneath were I might cap it?
thanks peeps in advance

I'd say get a top off another truck. I've seen on this board some cabs that trashed because the bottom half of the cab was rusted to heck.

I would try this. Get a roof from a donor cab and just replace the outer shell. When you cut the old one off, this will give you a chance to inspect what is underneath and see if that is really all the rust, and repair or por-15 as needed. These trucks tend to rust from the inside out so if you don't seperate the two halves and see how much rust there really is it will come back and bite you. Anyway you go about it it is going to suck to fix it right. Good luck
