Narrowing the frame

I need to know what size metal to buy to begin my frame modifications. I am narrowing my rear frame and I know what I'm doing there just unsure of what size tubing to buy. I was told 2x4 but it's a 3/4 ton truck and the main section of the frame is 6" high then drops to 5". Has anyone done frame mods on a 3/4 ton truck? I don't want to buy 20' of steel that I have no use for. Thanks

Re: Narrowing the frame

I would use 4"x2"x.120" rectangular tube. Done correctly it will be fine. I don't imagine you're going to be hauling 1500+ lbs in it as it was originally intended.
