Take a new fuel filter and rubber fuel hose.

I think there was a really good thread about road trip essentials (tools, spare parts, etc) a while back...

Edit: not the one I was thinking about, but here is one...

Good. Glad to see you got another truck. We moved back to FL last Aug and I retired from the Navy in Jan. I'm still trying to find "my way" in the civilian world, .

NICE TRUCK!!! I see it has the wood grain door panel inserts. Aren't these usually found on Cheyenne Supers only?

Cheyenne would have WG on the door panel inserts, but would not have it on the glovebox like a SUPER WOULD.

Huh...most Cheyennes I have seen do not have the wood grain door panels. My brother has an all original Black 72 BB 402 TH400 LWB C10 Cheyenne that has been in the family since new. It scroll design and stainless trim. A friend has an almost identical dark green one. It has scroll/ SS trim panels as well. I think you got the better combo!

Re: Weak moment-bought another 72

Yes, I made it home, all went well except a/c compressor going out in oklahoma. Had to drive a long way in 105 heat with no air. Got it home and got it all tuned up and fluids changed. Carb had brackets made holding four barrels closed. Crazy what old guys do. I did the a/c update to do away with poa valve, but kept everything to put back if someone wanted. It's a great old truck. Drives like new. I'll get some pics up soon, I've just been mega busy since I got home.

I already did. I started this thread a month ago and someone bumped it to see if I had gotten it. I just haven't had time to update, been busy. I will get some pics up as soon as I can.

Beautiful truck - I wouldn't worry about the price too much - there are only so many of these trucks in that shape, and there's less all the time. If that's what you wanted, then it's a bargain!

Guess I should have read the entire thread before responding! I guess when these sit it is not good on the A/C compressors!

Thanks! That's where I was at with it. There's just not many left like this that haven't been found. I wanted it and gave a good price for it. It's just hard getting past that sometime. I sell cars so I always want the coveted bargain, but when it comes to what you want personally or something of this nature, you give a premium.

Guess so At least you had a short drive in lesser temperatures. I did mine in the middle of all that 105 heat we had and went 600 miles.
