69 to 68 cab questions

Okay, picked up a '68 cab to replace my '69 cab. The only thing I have found is a different part number for the wiring within the cab (Dash/instruments) is different for the two years. As long as the guts to the cab are '69 and the chassis/drivetrain is '69, I don't anticipate there being any issues. Does anyone know of anything specific to the '68 that parts/pieces of the '69 won't fit?

You should be able to swap everying over. The only thing I question is the Ebrake they changed from 68 to 69.

Re: 69 to 68 cab questions

As John mentioned the e-brake will be the big one, I thought there was a thread that showed how to convert it but I did a quick search of the FAQ's and didn't see it.

Compare the drivers side firewall of the '68 to the '69.

They are different.

Re: 69 to 68 cab questions

Your wiring issue will be determined mostly by the options IIRC.The 3 hole dash is a bit different than the 7 hole and the placement of the factory switch holes is different by year.As long as the dash and harness match then you should be OK.
I think the E-brake will be a bigger problem but if you "search" you can probably find instructions.Try using Krue's FAQ index.

Re: 69 to 68 cab questions

Thanks, guys. I had forgotten about the ebrake, and I don't recall seeing it on this cab. The dash panel is gone, but that's not a biggee. I believe the wiring harnesses I bought from Wes will be okay, too. FWIW, my ebrake wasn't working because the intermediate cable is bad. So, not having an emergency from the git-go isn't a show-stopper, but there's no better time to do the conversion, if possible. Again, thanks.

Re: 69 to 68 cab questions

No wonder I didn't pick up on the ebrake....it AIN'T THERE!!! I guess that the guy who removed the cab just dumped all traces of it. No handle/ratchet and no mechanism or cable.

So, grafting the foot-actuated ebrake from my old cab to the new one will have to happen.
