pressurized gas tank?
Just curious, is it supposed to gust a bunch of air out when I take off my gas cap? :P
I know some cars are vacuum, some are pressurized others are just tanks.. is the 70 fuel system supposed to build pressure in the tank? Cause when I open up my tank to fuel up a big WHOOSH of air shoots out and sometimes sprays me with a little gas, it's annoying. |

Re: pressurized gas tank?
No, there nothing that pressurizes the tank except heat. If it's hot outside the gas will expand and create pressure. Check to make sure you have the right cap. It's supposed to vent the pressure out.
On some of the later years there were vented tanks but if your's doesn't have that feature then get a new cap from Napa or one of our local vendors. |

Re: pressurized gas tank?
awesome. lol. I've been driving around with this gas cap since I bought the truck. Guess I'll go pick up a vented cap, hopefully autozone or pepboys has one. So, it's supposed to vent... news to me. I was happy the gas smell stopped when I put this cap on :P

Re: pressurized gas tank?
supposedly there's some sort of valve not on the gas cap for venting pressure... anyone know about that?
I visited another forum fellow and he pointed it out on his truck but I can't get to that part on mine right now so I can't see if it's connected or plugged or what. |
