Master Cylinder Question for Under Dash Brakes
I am on the fence on smoothing my firewall. The only way I think I will bother to do it is if I relocate the giant ugly brake booster. It would be pretty easy to build a set up like this one from Kugel (without the clutch though)
They charge around $300 for the bracket and master cylinder or closer to $500 if you add a 7" booster. What I was wondering is if I could simply build my own brackets and use the master cylinder that is on my truck now without the booster. I don't think manual brakes would be that big of a deal. If I can reuse the stock master cylinder then I can build this thing for like $50. Anybody know if that will work?? |

Re: Master Cylinder Question for Under Dash Brakes
Im sure if anyone can make it you can... Have you checked into speedway motors? They have the same kind of setup for imca modified race cars taht are pretty reasonable i think.

Re: Master Cylinder Question for Under Dash Brakes
I checked there but didn't see any 90° systems. I think my factory unit will work because it the result is the same, you just don't have the assistance of the booster. Plus I just think it would be a fun project to build it myself.

Re: Master Cylinder Question for Under Dash Brakes
The master cylinder on my truck is for a 1980, manual brakes, disc front, drum rear. The truck stops on a dime, I love manual brakes.
I'd check with Wilwood too.

Re: Master Cylinder Question for Under Dash Brakes
I think they use a corvetter brake booster...that's the 7" one I think I think...something to look into...you may be able to get the booster for a reasonable amount

Re: Master Cylinder Question for Under Dash Brakes
Thanks, unfortunately his PM box is full. But I did find the photos in his build thread. That's an even easier set up than what I was thinking of.
