Battery Hole Cover

So I have a battery hole cover, and I'm sure I'm missing a piece of it.

The cover sits over the hole, but I think I'm missing the metal bars? the extend out from the center? as it doesn't have anything to fasten it down.

Not sure if I can fab something to make it work, or do I just need to buy a new cover? Ideas?

Re: Battery Hole Cover

I'd just buy a new cover, I love the way they work and it'd be a PITA to make new latches.

Re: Battery Hole Cover

Thanks cajundragger, ya that's kinda what I was thinking.

I'm also thinking of possibly welding the cover shut, and installing one of those drop down battery box CPP sells. Anyone have any experience with the drop down boxes?

Re: Battery Hole Cover

Yea, I started to put one on my 53. But it sits so low I would have to jack it up to get at the battery if I need too jump it or work on it. I'm going to put my in the back by the gas tank so I can get to it easier.

mount it in the stock location and use battery jump posts.
