Need advice on how to put new brake boot in

I am putting in a new brake boot and want ideas how to do it.. without taking to much apart..

I have pictures here to help you point out and explain to me just how to do so.. and also can you tell me where I can buy a new bolt that the brake peddle pivots on.? I assume it's a bolt with a collar on it so the nut will tighten only to the collar and not stop the peddle from being free swinging..

thx gopapa Larry

Larry,

The bolt is called a shoulder bolt. I will see if I have an extra one. Here is a picture of what you are looking for.

Thxs Leon ,,I found a shoulder bolt with threads and a nut /and a hole for a cotter key in my parts box for this truck...
..I put it in and it fits but would need a couple of washers to keep it tight out to the cotter key.

..one part will ride on the threads /the other part will ride on the shoulder..Is the one that you have pictured made with a shoulder wide enough for both the push rod and brake lever to ride on? And does the bolt you have pictured for me have threads along with a cotter key hole?

Not sure this is the exact bolt for this connection is the reason I ask.. larry

The shoulder fits in the flat end of the rod and sets against the side of the brake pedal arm. There should be a washer, lock washer, nut , and cotter key. You shouldn't need any other washers as the nut doesn't need to be out to the cotter key. It is just there so if the nut loosens up it can't come all the way off. The bolt tightens up against the brake pedal arm and the only movement should be the end of the rod pivoting on the shoulder of the bolt....
