what 350 trans?

hey all

i have a '65 lwb chevy. 350 crate engine with 2 speed powerglide and was

gathering info on what is needed to upgrade to a 350. trans from what year

vehicles will work and if i need a different drive shaft. all info is appreciated.

Get a "short" TH350 (Approximately 27"-28" from bellhousing face to rear seal) and your stock driveshaft and crossmember will work as-is). The transmission can come out of a car - it doesn't have to be from a truck.

You will still need to cobble the shift linkage, kickdown cable, and cooling lines.

AFAIK, they didn't change significantly over the years. The only one you might want to avoid is the 350C which uses a lockup converter and has a bad rep. It can be identified by an electrical connector on the case. The regular 350 has no connector.

Naturally, you want to be sure yours has a Chevy bolt pattern, not BOP. In other words, you want the front of the bellhousing to look like the one on your powerglide.
