'59 Apache motor/tranny mock up mount

I have got the mtor & tranny in place on tube crossmembers, need to re-check and weld-up. Looks like I have plenty of clearance around distributor and up front for radiator but left side looks awfully tight to get exhaust manifold or header in.
Anyone had header fit-up problems and/or what would be solution?

Re: '59 Apache motor/tranny mock up mount

Drivers side is always congested with steering, clutch, brake pedal, shift linkage and exhaust converging at the same point. I am running early Ramhorn manifolds that dump straight down. At the lower rpm range where my engine will live I don't need the exhaust breathing you get from headers. There is a current thread on headers not fitting. Do a search to look up old topics to. And the build threads have solutions too. It seems the best tactic is to do what you are doing, mock up the engine, steering and brake, then start looking for exhaust that will work. These trucks came stock with SBC so the Ramhorn will work. For more breathing spring for a set of 57 Corvette Repops with the 2.5" dia. collectors, they are readily available and used in the stock drag racing classes. here is a photo of my mock up, my steering is on the outside of the frame which helps with clearance. I marked the brake pedal, make sure you check for clearance thru its full range of motion.

Right on, thanks for reminding me of the brake. I'm hoping to find headers that drop straight down and clear.
I'll search some more.
