stink bugs

I pulled my 350 engine a few weeks ago and thought I had plugged all the holes but forgot the exhaust. I removed the manifolds and there was stink bugs hanging on the valve stems. This is in my shop. I vacuumed them up and plugged the ports. Tonight I started my 1992 Chevy truck and at least 100 were under the battery and in the alternator. I have to brush them away from the doors to get in the house. This is worse than the Lady bugs.

Only in Va. I had the same problem when I gutted the interior of my old Blazer. Those f'ing things were under the carpet & headliner and behind every panel. They had even wormed their way into my retractable seat belt housing

Re: stink bugs

I read somewhere recently about how those darn things are a real problem this year. I know I'm seeing way too many of them in my neck of the woods.

Re: stink bugs

Must be a regional thing. I haven't seen any at all here. We have mosquitoes that will carry a small dog off, but no stink bug infestation.

I've been hoping the mosquitoes would begin feeding on the stink bugs, no luck. Some of them are so big they sound like a 757 landing.

Bad out my way in Frederick Co. They eat any plant it seems local gardeners, farmers, and orchards lost a fair amount due to stink bug damage. I'll take the 17 yr cicadas over the stink bugs. Supposedly 1/4 dawn dish soap to 3/4 water mix kills them. And a word of caution do not vaccuum them up they will make the vaccuum stink some kind of bad. Rumor has it they came in a cargo container shipped from China to the mid-atlantic area.

some local paper write-ups:
Return of the stink bugs

Stink bugs wreaking havoc on farmers, gardeners

Stink bug infestation goes beyond farmers

I'm surprised anything is tougher than Poquoson mosquitos in your neck of the woods! I used to hear them talking behind a bush... well, do we take him home or just eat him here?

They were especially bad this year since the Air Force didn't spray but once all summer. Yes for those reading this, the local AF base, Langley, uses a converted C-130 and sprays for skeeters. The plane fly's so low you need to check your roof for skid marks.

Re: stink bugs

Yeah, but if one of those C-130s hits one of those Poquoson mosquitos , it'd be really ugly!

No stink bugs here in north central oregon, so I can't feel your pain there, however, if you've ever had wasps build a nest in your defrost vent.... well I can relate to that.

Re: stink bugs

I had lots of wasps this year and also hornets. I had a hornets nest the size of a football in the bed of my 87. I also has some yellow jackets. But no flies or Mosquitoes.
