You Wont Believe Thi I Found A Big Block And I Need Help Finding Out What Size It Is
you guys won't believe this but here goes. i usually work the summers at this local boys and girls club. i run the pool for them in the summer. i was looking around the building and i fund a big block chevy sitting in one of the closets back by the pool. i asked who the engine belonged to and no one knew i was told it had been setting there for the last 5 years and that i could have it if i wanted it. of course i said yes. i checked the numbers on the block and this is what i got . 3937724 could someone please tell me what size big block this is. i am hoping for a 454 so i can stroke it up to a 496.

MorTec shows this:
3937724....366T......68-85...4-bolt I would translate that as a 366 TRUCK engine (tall deck). This would be a 3.935 bore. Man, a 366 big block? I'll bet that thing would last forever. Talk about overbuilt! Strange one! Brian |

You know, thinking about it -- if that's any kind of rare engine, you might find a big truck guy who would be willing to swap you for something more typical of our trucks.

The tall deck truck blocks are good for "sourcing" cranks/rods. It should have a forged crank(3.76 stroke) 396/402/427.....it would make a 427 in a 454 block. I like the shorter stroke BB's, can you say REV? crazyL

The 366 is a waste of time. Only good for parts onless you have tons of cubic bucks to toss into it.
Even the truck guys hate the 366, they prefer the 427 tall deck truck engine. |

Thanks guys for the feedback....I really thought that I had a 454, 396 or 427. I might just try and take it to a big truck guy and see what I can get out of it...............Thanks Again
