Need advice.... What wheels and tires????
Gents, I have a 67K10 and I am ready to change up the wheels and tires. I am also going to add a little lift in theprocess (3-4") and am curious to know what every one thinks would be a goood combo?
I don't want to have to use a step ladder to get up in her, so a 33" or 35" tire should be suffecient. Currently I have 16" wheels on it. Any pro's or con's on going to a 15" wheel? How wide of a wheel can I fet inside the fenders and still make corners without grinding off that expensive rubber? Thanks! Heath Last edited by 1967K10; 06-13-2003 at 09:40 PM. |

I think your best bet, would be to go to a few lift off-road shops that do that work and get there opinions. I think you would want a 16 or 17" rin with 33's a 7" suspension lift, not just a body lift

I would say with a 4" lift you wuld want 33's if your ever going to take it off road if not then 35's shoud be sufficient and a 15x8 or 10 wheel

Thanks guys, I think I have decided upon a set of 35's with a 15x10 wheel as I wont have her off road and my 406 will be more than capable of turning those 35's.

Does anyone think I can get away with 33's on my 72 K20 w/ a 2" suspension lift? They could be 33X10.50, not 12.50, if that is all that will fit...

I have 33" TSLs on 15"x10" rims. w/ 2" lift. The tires do not rub at all. Look at the pics in my sig link.

amstaff, they are the 33x12.5s non radials(load range D). The rims are off the shelf w/ 4" backspacing made by us wheel. In the pic the rims w/ the BFGs are American Racing white wagon wheels, they have 4.25" back spacing. The BFGs are 325/60R15 (about 31x12.5).

4" lift and 325 75 16 tires are perfect IMO. I would not do 15's anymore.
You WILL break the 12 bolt in the K10 with the 406 and 35" tires. I've broken the Jimmy's 6 times. Depending on my finances the next time it breaks, it will get a semi-floater 9.5" 14 bolt where I can keep my existing 6 lug 15" wheels, but I would prefer to upgrade to 8 lug FF in the back.

other board members have told me that if you ever plan on upgrading to front disc brakes, you want to get 16" wheels. I would like to lift my truck a similar amount, but I plan to offroad it some. I am thinking perhaps a 4" lift, a body lift, and then 35's. I am also planning to install a newer dana 44 with disc brakes and open knuckles up front.

Yep the 8 lug dana44 w/ disc will not clear 15" rims with out grinding the caliper, But I've read that you can use 1/2 ton calipers and not have to grind to fit 15" rims I believe I read that in Four Wheeler magazines project super-burb.
