Does anybody have a 67 or 68 with the correct compass in them? where is the correct mounting location? i believe they look like the one pictured below.

There is one of these currently on ebay - $2,850!!!! However, it does show a mounting diagram to answer your question.

Anybody know what kind of oil I should inject back into the compass? Mine's lost over 50% of its fluid.

these compass' have lights in them. they were correct for 67 and the more square style is for the later models. That price is rediculous for something that isn't even on the spid. I would like to get one but can spend $2800 in my motor and feel much better. JMO.

This is the jury rig I use to illuminate the compass at night. It's a tiny button-cell flashlight with a gooseneck. It also has a little laser, but my attempts at getting the laser to focus on the magnetic cursor [or lubber line] panned out.
I used friction tape to lash it to the rear view mirror stem.
