Anyone install a flip out LCD head unit? Will they fit?
I have installed many stereos in my time but never a flip out LCD head unit. I am looking at a few with Bluetooth and a touch screen, some have a slide out screen that folds up, I am thinking the screen will hit the dash pad and not open all the way. There are also those that have a screen that is always exposed and they slide down to reveal the cd slot.
Anyway, have any of you had luck with such a head unit? Pictures? I am looking at something like this, the screen slides down and also tilts, I am pretty sure it will clear the ashtray but would like to see if any of you have used such a unit in your truck. This is a single DIN unit. Thanks! |

They also make one that goes down instead of up once it opens. I have thought of one of these myself just haven't done it yet!

Re: Anyone install a flip out LCD head unit? Will they fit?
I got mine installed and love it, it has bluetooth so when my phone rings I just touch the screen to answer or dial a number. I had to take off my original ash tray front, just drilled the two rivets out. I cut a new one out of aluminum and anodized it, I made the new one 1/2 shorter to accomodate the screen on the stereo. Touch screens are the way to go, makes using the stereo much easier. I can now watch a movie while driving! No more boring driving with my eyes glued to the road! I dont even look at the road anymore! Driving is much more fun when your not distracted by the road!
