suspension questions

I have a 1970 c10 that is 6 lug with 4 wheel drum brakes. i am parting out my '72 cheyenne 10 with 5 lug disc/drum and plan to swap complete front suspension and the rear end onto the '70. I want to buy a front end rebuild kit but the kit for 67-70 is different from the 71-72 kit. anyone know the difference? any other recommendations or tips for my swap would be appreciated. thanks.

Re: suspension questions

All I can offer is another question...where is the front end kit available from? I should do that when I replace the springs in mine...

Re: suspension questions

My thinking is the reason for the difference in parts is due to the fact that the disc brakes were a change for '71, whereas the previous models had drum brakes. Whatever the non-so-obvious differences are, my thinking is that the people who package the parts in a "kit" include the specific pieces that are different and have to differentiate which kit fits which year models.

Shiner 2001 - Most of the truck resto websites and parts distributors sell the replacement suspension parts. Even auto zone! but i am getting a complete kit from classic performance parts at classicperform.com. The price is right and I've been told that the quality is good.

For what it's worth, I looked at that one and compared to the one LMC has, it seems much more complete. It's priced higher, but also includes more.

Re: suspension questions

the difference is in the ball joints and tie rod ends. If you're going with all the 71-72 Pieces you'll need to order the 71-72 kit. If you are going to ever install drop spindles, consider getting them for 73-87 and then you can use the 73-87 parts which are cheaper and more readily available (in stock) at parts stores.
