Suggestion for console trim

Hi guys, its time to renew the console and paint it to match the seats in the Blazer. What do you suggest for the console trim? The chrome is pretty crappy, I was thinking about sand blasting and spraying chrome paint, or maybe body color.

What color should the center of the bowtie be for the console? I've seen them lots of different colors. Thanks, Jeff.

I know you can get replacement chrome for the consoles, but its up to you. Are you asking what color you should paint it? Or what color it should be?

Re: Suggestion for console trim

I was actually intending to paint it, but today one of my buddies at work knows a place that does chrome pretty reasonable, so I'm going to have it re-chromed. I'll post pics once its done.

Where have you seen replacement trim? My foray into chroming didn't turn out so well. The place wanted over $200 just to re-do the chrome, so needless to say, I didn't do it. If you know of a place that sells replacement, please let me know. Thanks, Jeff.

That may be the only option I have. I think it would look ok that way too.

Re: Suggestion for console trim

I have two pair of the console trim....one really nice and one perfect....I'm sure there are others out there with extras as well....have you thought of that route?

Yes, but it will depend on cost. You know how that goes. Are you interested in getting rid of one? Mine doesn't have to be perfect, I'd just like it to be rust free and nice.

Re: Suggestion for console trim

I thought it was sand-able like stainless or aluminum . Can't you sand it the with finer and finer grit then buff it?

Not sure on that, its chromed, but it is super flimsy. Biggest problem I saw was the rust on the back side of it where the nubs are that mount it to the console. I'm worried it'd just break off.

Re: Suggestion for console trim

Thanks for the offer J, but I've got one coming from Blazer70X2 on another thread. Once I get it cleaned up, I'll try to see what I can do with the original to clean it up.
