I had one of the fittings break off on my 2000 Sierra. Also 1/2 ton. The fittings are replaceable. They snap on. Should be able to get them at any auto parts store. Getting the rest of the old fitting off was a pita tho.

Take a hacksaw blade & carefully make two cuts long ways 180degrees apart on the plastic fitting. when you get the fitting off just slip the heater hose on the heater core & clamp it, No need to buy the plastic fitting.
