I have been looking around the FaQ http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...ad.php?t=35042

I know this post is old but was wondering if anyone could tell me the difference in lca from a 1/2 ton and a 3/4 ton lca.
If there is no difference it would be a good alternative to aftermarket swaps.
And another question, I thought i read that 73 and up spindals work with later model 6 lug disks? I cant remember where at or if it even worked.Any help would be appreciated, Eric

The only difference is the 3/4 uses a larger ball-joint. Since it presses in the hole in the 1/2 is too small. The upper just bolts in and is ok. Any '67-87 3/4 lcr would work, I believe. Its just that if you went to say '71-87 I would get the upper to match just so the mounting bushings are all the same.

No one has found a factory 6-bolt that is a direct replacement. The prob. with using those 88-92 (if memory serves) is the distance from the back of the rotor to the inner bearing/seal is different. Thus the rotor does not line up in the caliper.

By 3/4 you mean 8 lug? Or does 6 lug also qualify? 5 lug is 1/2 ton

The thread you were looking at was on using the "light-duty" 3/4 ton 6-bolt rotors. They were made from '88-'92 and had 6 lugs instead of the standard 8. They used the standard 3/4 ton ball joints, I think.

The ones I have seen had W/T (work truck) after the 2500, like the 1500 W/T's that had the v6's.

One other difference I have noticed between 1/2 and 3/4 ton is the control arm bushings. On 73-up, at least one of the 3/4 tons I looked at still used the older type bushings that have to be greased. Is this true for all 73-87, or was the one I saw just an oddball?
