Strange sound when turning right

Okay,

I thought I was hearing things but this morning I confirmed it. I noticed when I was taking a right turn (around a block), I hear a distinctive "Rat-tat-tat-tat..." sound. Once I straighten her out, the noise is gone. It does not happen on left turns, and it does not happen at very slow speeds (like when I'm parking the truck). I'm not taking the turn super fast either, my speed is probably between 15-25 MPH when I take the turn. Any ideas? Thanks in advance...

Weird thing about noises....they're hard to nail down when you're behind the wheel.

Some shops have a noise detector that places microphones on all four corners so they can help pinpoint the area. It's a suggestion.

Check your wheel bearing. Jack up that wheel and see how much play you have in it. Grab it at the top and bottom and wiggle it. Could be a bit loose and shifts to the side when you turn and contacts the disc pads.

Does the noise change with engine speed or vehicle speed?

Re: Strange sound when turning right

I only notice the noise when I make turns around a street corner (90 degree turns). I have not tried to purposely speed up or slow down. I did try to hear for the noise when I pulled into a parking lot (at an obviously much lower speed) and I did not notice the noise.

Talking Re: Strange sound when turning right

Well, I jacked the truck up and checked my tires. My front left tire jiggled and we confirmed that the wheel bearing needs replacement. I will do the uninstall/install tomorrow and will attempt to take pictures as I go. Thanks everyone for their help on this one.
