Serpentine belt conversion question? - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

picked up a 1979 SB 350. I wanna go with a serpentine belt set up, but can't afford aftermarker bling and chrome with the associated $$$ cost.

I have heard that late model GM serpentine set upd (Blazer, s-10, caprice, etc) will work on the 350 block. If so, I can get all that at the junkyard for about $100 or less, some powder coat "chrome", and I should be fine.

Will this work, or is the swap not that painless?

should work fine, provided the heads have the bolt holes in the right spots, which they should.

There was a thread recently on the subject that had links to older posts as well. Unfortunately I can't find it right now. Do some digging and you should get all you need to know and more...

Thanks, though I remebered reading it, this makes the engine a lot cheaper to rebuild now

don't for get to get tha reverse flow water pump to go along with tha set up

if you run a mech. fan the fan has to match the reverse flow.

I think it looks alot cleaner without sepr. setups, all them big brackets and pulleys. But it gets the job done.
