Ok guys. I need some help here. I'm rebuilding an '86 C-10 and don't know which way to go with this. I'm doing a full custom job on it (shaving the doors, emblems, drip rails, filled in the stake pockets and cab seams, 3/5 drop, either 18 or 20 inch rims, relocated the tailgate handle, etc, etc.) Here's the dilemma - I already bought all new body panels (everything except the doors) but now I'm reconsidering looking for a shortbox frame and switching everything on to it. The current truck is a longbed and I've already sunk over $2000 into the box alone. I guess my question is this - how many of you have lowered longbeds and how much do you like it? Pics would be appreciated if possible too! Thanks!

I personally think that lowered longbeds look great, lowered dualies look even better

If you take a look in the post your ride post (probally on the second or third page by now) there are a couple lowered longboxes in there.

while most rodders and cus4tom guys ike the shortbox for making their rods etc, ive seen some who use the longbed ( hell there are many on this board) and personally i dont see the difference in which is better.I judge each truck on how it looks not how long it is. to me its a matter of choice

Hell yeah! Heck I might even suggest converting yours into a dually. But theres nothing wrong with longbeds. If you've already put $2000 into the longbed then why would you waste it?

I am building a slammed dually myself. Will be putting 33x21.5 on the back with a 12 bolt stock axle width. All you do is get a dually bed and it all bolts up. This is the dilema I ran into. I do not care for these trucks in a long bed and lowered. So I fiqured with the big fender and lots of tire it will look alot better and take away from the long look!! Good luck!!

Hmm..that gives me an idea. I think a slammed longbed would look SLICK if it was tubbed. No, I'm not saying a tubbed DUALLY, I'm saying a totally stock looking longbed...just slammed (you said you're doing 3/5...trust me..you'll wanna go 5/7

) and tubbed with like 30x13 M/T's. Damn..I think I'm gonna go find a longbed now!

I have seen several longbeds that have been tubbed without dually fenders. They look pretty sick!! The big tire takes away from the fact that it is a long bed. Also a 33" tire is the minimum to fill the fenders with these trucks!!
