New truck... 72 K10 SWB

Picked up a new project this weekend, tell me what you guys think. 72 K10, 350 4 speed. PS, PB, and plenty of rot. I plan on doing a total resto on it, build thread to come. I just got started taking it apart yesterday, removing the bed is the first order of business. Will get into a more long winded explanation of it later, in a bit of a hurry at the moment. Here she is

Re: New truck... 72 K10 SWB

So here's a little more history on it, what I have gathered so far. A buddy of mine bought it on ebay in 2005, and had it shipped from Michigan here to long island. He drove it for about 6 months and then parked it behind his house. So its been sitting for 5 years. We dragged it out to the street with a few gallons of fresh gas, popped the clutch and she fired up for me to drive it home. Its an original 4x4 SWB, which i think is awesome. Not sure if the motor and tranny are original, but the 4x4 running gear is riveted to the frame, and correct me if i'm wrong but that means its factory 4x4? Havent decided whether or not i'm going to try and tackle the rust, or find a straight cab for it. The bed is in great condition, except for a tiny bit of rust in the floor. I will work on getting more pics and a build thread going.

Re: New truck... 72 K10 SWB

you have a lot of options...

one option is to replace the entire floor in one piece, cost about $350 for the part. That's only an option if the area over the visors is 100% solid, if it's rotting then you should find a new cab.

Come out to Carlisle, PA for the spring show and you can get tons of parts! www.carsatcarlisle.com

Re: New truck... 72 K10 SWB

She'll be a nice project. I'm a sucker for the 4x4's. Although I'm a lifted LWB guy, the short stuff lifted looks funny to me.

Interesting that it has '67-68 trim on it. Looks like a nice start, though.
