9 inch rear end disk brake questions
I have a 9"rear end out of a 72 torino and im confused about what disk ,caliper and bracket to use for this upgrade. I have read that u can use explorer, gm, jeep and sidekick calipers. I really cant get a straight answer to a good parts list I can go get and just put it together.

Re: 9 inch rear end disk brake questions
the ford 8.8 and 9" svo disc brake kit (ford motorsports)
was nothing more than a late 90's explorer set up.. I have a set in basement,(svo kit) all the part # are explorer on a 9" u have to mount the house'n ends 90* from stock.. meaning turning the top of the end and have it now on the left or having brackets made.. haven't looked but some have said with small ends they are fine. but big bearing ends must be turned.. no issue as I had moser just mount the ends that way.. or you can look at lincolns of the 70's Last edited by stich626; 10-28-2010 at 03:20 PM. |

Re: 9 inch rear end disk brake questions
Awesome thanks for the help. So would you know the specific year or do you have the part numbers? I would hate to get the wrong ones. Thanks again for your help and good luck on the chevelle.

Re: 9 inch rear end disk brake questions
as an alternative,
I used a 74 disc brake setup from a full size Lincoln, I had the ends removed along with all the brake components. This gave me the big Ford ends, and all the brackets for using the stock 11 in rotor calipers from the Ford, and had it all welded on to my 12 bolt. I just have to finish trimming the bracket for the parts I won't need. I have mocked up the parking brake cables and brake lines, it all seems to work very well.
