700r4 question....
I'm putting a 90 model 700r4 in my 83, along with a new engine, and have run into a little snag... The 90 model tranny came out of a truck with electronic speedo, so I have to change out the electronic pickup and gear for the old cable system...How do you get the steel signal disc (looks like a gear) off of the output shaft?? It doesn't just tap off like the plastic gear does on the old setup, HELP

It should just pull of, might be stuck there so try harder

I had to do the same thing when I put a 89 model in my truck. Best way I found to get it off is use an adjustable wrench. Open it up to where it will fit over the output shaft and lay against the signal generator disk. Then use a hammer and hit the wrench to peck it off. Takes a few pecks, but it will come off.

I'll give it another go in the morning... I was using an adjustable wrench tonight, tapping on it, I didn't try hitting the wrench with a hammer. It seems to be a pretty tight fit, if that doesn't work I'll have to start hunting a long puller.... Thanks for the help...

Don't play with it. Hit the wrench pretty hard. Once it starts, it will come pretty easy. You are right, it is a tight fit.
