I'm sure he didn't lose your order either. He misplaced mine, so after waiting over a month and a half he put a "rush order" on it. He must have forgotten to mark mine in his haste. Hopefully that's all he forgot to do.

Re: '67 5.3L Build Thread
This is looking great! Are you keeping a tally or spreadsheet with all the costs? Anxious to see what this ends up being when you're finished, I'm sure it'll be worth it..

Yea, You probably don't want to know at least till your done. once I went over my budget, I never looked at my spread sheet again. I suppose I will have to when I'm done though.

Re: '67 5.3L Build Thread
Here are some pics of the finished gas tank install. I used stainless 1/2" bolts to mount it. Here is a pic of the fuel pressure reg and filter assy out of a Corvette. I purchased the whole setup, with AN fittings, from PACE auto.

Re: '67 5.3L Build Thread
I STARTED MY TRUCK FOR THE FIRST TIME TONIGHT!!!!!
![]() There was much rejoicing that it actually ran!!! I was so excited. My only issue is that the radiator is leaking all of a sudden. Sucks that I just got it put together and now I have to take it apart again. Anyway, here is a pic of the computer install and another look at the motor in running condition. I still need to clean up some of the minor wiring, but overall, it's pretty much done. I still have a long way to go before I can drive it, however. I need to have my drive shaft slip yolk switched out, install the lowering kit and new disc brake kit, wheels/tires, etc. So, check back often. I move fast and post my progress nearly every weekend. I also forgot to mention that I made a bracket and mounted the throttle pedal. I'll try and get pics up soon.

Yes, I think a tear almost came into my eye I was so happy!!!
![]() You just never know how things are going to work out when you re-wire an entire vehicle. All of my gauges and lights even work correctly. I am so excited.

Re: '67 5.3L Build Thread
What did you end up doing for the transmission cooler lines and fittings?
What size did you say the output of the tranny and radiator lines? I haven't looked at mine in a minute so i can't remember if its male or female coming out of the transmission. I have been reading everyone's comments and feed back trying to piece this all together but somewhere along the way i got lost. I'm a wrencher not a reader. I would like to simplyfy it and just run a briaded -6 line between the two, just need to know what the connection is on both ends. Thanks for your help. Mike Quote:

Re: '67 5.3L Build Thread
I ended up going to mu local hydraulic hose shop and having some 2-wire hoses made for it. They were much cheaper and screwed right in. They had the inverted flares on one side and the compression fittings on the other side to slip right over the hard lines coming out of the trans. I don't recall the sizes, but if you look up the parts on that list you will find some flare nuts that are the correct sizes. Hope that helps.

Re: '67 5.3L Build Thread
Here is a pic of how I mounted my gas pedal. I took a piece of 3/16" thick 3"x 36" steel from Home Depot, cut it into a 3"x3" piece and a 3"x5" piece, and welded it together once drilled for the fire-wall (old gas pedal mount)/pedal and positioned correctly. I used 2 different pieces so I could fine-tune the mounting position. It worked out great and is in a very comfortable position.

Re: '67 5.3L Build Thread
Here is a video of the motor running open header. Kinda' loud, but it sounds pretty good. The tach is off because I just found out that you have to set Auto Meter gauges to the 4 cyl setting or it to show correctly using the ECM tach signal.

Re: '67 5.3L Build Thread
Thanks, it's nice to hear encouraging words. I think that I am going to have the injectors professionally cleaned. The idle is a little irregular and the throttle response seems a little slow. Hopefully that will fix the issue.

Re: '67 5.3L Build Thread
mine sound just like that, it would be perfect but it just needs the volume toned down a little. Do you have mufflers pick out?
