Re: info on buying new alternator

AC Delco alternator part# 334-2112. 60-75 bucks at most auto parts stores with a lifetime warranty. It will bolt right in place of your old one. All you will need to do is disconnect your voltage regulator then cut and join the fist and last wire together on the wiring harness. you can leave the plug there or cut the two middle wires and put a butt connector on them and wrap them in elect tape. I have done this on every car or truck I have ever owned with an external regulator without any problems. The one on my '69 ha been on there for 10+ years.

Re: info on buying new alternator

What kind of money do you want to spend and what amount of amperage load is he planning? If there are stereo components involved, then a higher amperage unit is best. I run alternators from Tuff Stuff and I get the higher amperage capability AT IDLE RPMS, that many alternators do not offer. It is worth the money for that little extra. I purchased mine from Summit Racing also. I used the website and tech help at Tuff Stuff to decide what I wanted.

Just bought and installed this one. For now all I know is it works

I opted for the 3 wire. It will be easier to find on the road if necessary
