The Cry Baby is Back - Limited time only!

Hey guys you may or may not know me but I was an active member 3 or so years ago until I left due to the Blazer Board drama but whatever. Bygones I guess.

Update on me, I sold Big Yellow after my son was born for financial reasons and decided to keep the 2wd for rarity reasons. One had to go. I may still not frequent much as I moved from FLorida to Toledo Ohio and had to store the 2wd in Florida so no tinkering for what could be a few years.

My main question.... My dad wants to sell his near perfect Suburban and I am not a Paying member. Does it make sense to buy a membership and try to use the sale section here? Do any of the nicer trucks actually sell here or would I be better off on Ebay? I posted a pic in the Burb section and picing will be VERY reasonable. What do I do?

Hey to everyone I know. Off to storage she wernt. So sad.

Re: The Cry Baby is Back - Limited time only!

FWIW, my experience selling stuff on this board:

69 panel truck. Took 11 months to sell it with only 1 person contacting me who ultimately bought it. Probably 20 people contacted me through my ad on Craigslist. 5 came and took a look. Panel truck is an odd ball and expected it to take some time to sell.

Blazer/Jimmy seats. Sold them in a month the first time, couple of contacts through the board. Did not post on Craigslist. Buyer welched and listed them again. Second time, no action from the board at all, sold them via Craigslist in a bit over a month. Had a bunch of people contact me through Craigslist.

71 pickup. Listed a bit over two months ago. Zero action from the board. Maybe 10 people have contacted me through Craigslist. Still sitting in my driveway. Kind of surprised that it hasn't drawn more heat, when it wasn't for sale I regularly had people at the gas station ask if it's for sale.

Craigslist has treated much better than this board, though Craigslist is hugely popular in this part of the world so that certainly helps. In other parts of the country Craigslist may not generate as much heat. All the stuff I've been selling has been low dollar so I can't comment on how a high dollar truck would fare here.

Never sold anything on Ebay bit it's hard to beat that kind of exposure.

I subscribe to support the board not to sell stuff. Just to sell stuff I would have to say it's not worth it. However since it's such a great source of knowledge spanning several subjects, it's $25/year very well spent.

Re: The Cry Baby is Back - Limited time only!

I think I will try Ebay (already on their free ads site) and craigslist for a couple days and think about it. The problem is I really don't frequent this board anymore and to pay to support the site I never go on is not really an option to me. Since I don't work on my Blazer in storage and sold my DD Blazer I just don't look at truck sites at this point in my life.

I guess I really wanted to know if a Truck that was worth 12-15 in great shape, would someone here probably pop on it for 10-ish off this board? I guess I will buy a 6 month subscribe tomorrow and just do it. My parents really are in a hardship and need it gone.

I'd post it here for sure but the board can be a fickle place, it'll get good exposer to those who love these old rides but I always try to remember for the most part we're all just hobbiest's here.

Glad you were able to keep one of em, what got you to move to Ohio?
(guessing work)

Wife is a Medical resident for 4 years here so I will probably not see my blazer in that time period. No place to keep it up here out of the elements. Heck I may sell that one as my dad had offered to give me his because he is in poor health. His is nicer too.

Well worth the $25 bucks whether you sell anything or not. Why not just support the board that helps support your hobby?

I am pretty suffcient on my truck knowledge and like I said I have not been on in 3 years, but hey if it helps sell the truck then it makes it woth wild. I bit the bullet and paid for a premium membership so if anyone wants a vlean Burb I will be posting over there shortly.
