TH400 Kickdown Switch - HELP

I am doing a V6 to V8 swap. The truck is a 87 Chevy. Origianally had a TBI and the 400 in it. Getting a new trans and running a carb.

Need help on installing the knock down switch. Were do you put it? On the pedal or the carb. The carb switch needs a 350 or 700 bracket. How does the switch mount to the bracket?

ANy help or photos would be great!

Re: TH400 Kickdown Switch - HELP

I believe the kick down switch mounts down by the pedal.

Re: TH400 Kickdown Switch - HELP

Kick down on TH400 is electrically operated by a switch your go pedal hits. If you can't find one I believe Lokar makes an aftermarket one that works a little differently.

Re: TH400 Kickdown Switch - HELP

Yea I know about the switch but were is it located. I figure the old truck had a 400 it should still be there. Could it be on the old motor?
I never had a 400 before so sorry for the dumb question but were should the switch be located so I can see if it is still there?

Under the dash. Your actual gas pedal contacts it. The switch is brown and is mounted on a bracket It should have a white and orange wire coming off of it if I remember correctlly.

Re: TH400 Kickdown Switch - HELP

TH 350 is an actual kickdown cable between the trans and the carb linkage. TH400 does it electrically, and had no connection to the engine, so you're looking in the wrong area. Like the others said, it's a switch on the gas pedal bracket similar to the ones on the brake pedal that operate your brake lights and cruise control. The wire goes to a plug on the side of the trans.

Re: TH400 Kickdown Switch - HELP

I was informed that this year since it has a computer handles the switch duties and there is no switch. Instead of a switch the computer reads the throttle position sensor and then sends the power to the trans to shift.

I am getting so confused
