Talking Junkyard Score..

First off let my go on record to say,Yeah I know I don't need this but I got it anyway cause it was such a great deal.Anyway yesterday Im out at my favorite salvage yard to get an auto crossmember, which i get.So I decide to give the place a once over,I come across this 69 Buick Riveria(one of my favorite cars)I look inside and the am/fm wonderbar radio is still in it along with the factory 8track player. To make it short and to the point I buy the radio, tape player and I guess some sort of delco amp for 10 bucks. It gets better as Im taking the radio out Im noticing how good the interior is.I find the thing is a runner with a 455/400 setup. The kicker is I get the entire car for 200 bucks. Now I gotta figure where Im gonna put this thing, Owell I have had this problem b4.

455 is simply awesome if built right. I know a guy who has one is a 72 GS that runs 11's on the motor.

Althugh, i think that is an olds 455 and not a buick....same deal though.
But it would be a shame to kill a sweet old car just for the motor

The amplifier is most likely a stereo multiplexer. You should easily recoup your ENTIRE investment on that on eBay! Good job.

Buick 455's are nicer than olds! Stroke is much better!

This si very true. I have always been told that the olds was the least desirable of the trio, and that buick is top dog of the 455's.
Is that acurate Mr Pontiac guy? as in is the Pontiac one not the best one...excluding super duties of course)

The 455 buick has the largest bore and shortest stroke of the trio, and can be built to make more power....although at a higher cost. Most hi po goodies have to be purchased through T/A performance...and they ain't cheap.

I was in Tulsa today getting a pickup for rust-free parts. A decent score, but not as good as yours! I pulled a similar stereo from a '69 Caprice years ago not knowing at the time there was a multiplexer that is separate. It was not a wonderbar, but was stereo. It had a blue lighted "STEREO" when tuned. I threw it on ebay a few months ago thinking it might fetch 20 bucks or so. It went for about $235!!!

I went back today the salvage yard to secure the Riviera(that means I put a lock on the hood and had it put on top of a yellow school bus so the vultures can't get to it).the thing is a highly optioned car power window, door locks, power bucket bench with headrest,tilt,a/c,cornering lights, power trunk release, speedwarning, and all 4 buick rally wheels. The thing started right up looks like just needs a tune up.I decided to get it road worthy and restore its too nice of a car to part out.

The bastards in charg of Ohio won't let the junk yards sell a car once it has been sold to a yard. (onless the yard bought it with the intention of resale)
When i was a teen I broke my Citation in half (yes..literally) and everything bolted to that sucker was new. (rebuilt engine with some performance work (stop laughing) rebuilt tranny, new rad, clutch, brakes on all 4 corners...ect) When i saw a 2 door hatch back (mine was a 4 door hatch) that was black with a perfect body. Asked what they wanted for it and they told me about the state law. They woulda had to cut the firewall and could not give me a title..only a bil of sale that states it would only be for parts only.
Some things about Ohio really sucks.
