Which year K5 Blazers are the hardest to find?

My best friend in Wyoming called me and found a '68 Blazer with
low miles and $15,000(YES that's thousand) worth of receipts, and the guy wants less than 1/2 that amount. Are 68's a little harder to find than the later years or what? No pics yet, thought I'd test the waters before I asked him for some pics. Thanks for any info......

oh yea, it's a 4 x 4

No such thing as a '68 Blazer. Somebody must have changed the front clip.

Depends if it is a 69-72 and they are just calling it a 68, or maybe they did change the clip, which if they did it might look a little odd.

67sss,

$7500 is a little high for an old blazer in really good condition. If you find one that needs some work, I'd expect to pay in the $5-6000 range.

You'll have to check the VIN to see what year the truck really is. 69 is the first year they made Blazers, and they sold very few of them that year. After that, they got much more popular.

When _I_ went looking, I knew I wanted a 71 or a 72 because they were the first year to have front wheel disk brakes. Some people have said that discs were an option in '70, but I can't confirm that.

CST models with their upgraded interior package are generally worth more today. As are 2wd versions, because of their relative rarity.

About changing the front clip -- I would take off $500 for trying to con you into thinking it was a '68.

I think they look cool when they have been retrofitted with a '67-8 front clip. As far as collector value though, it still is not original and original is what brings the big $$.

My 70 Jimmy 4x4 came with discs up front. GMC was always the "luxury truck" though. BTW, I'm changing my hood to a 68. I like it.

Yeah i'd agree with the others, find out if the person really thinks it's a '68. Probably would show how much they really know... Definately get some pics though and i'm sure these guys can tell you more abotu the value

Here is a link that list the specs & differences between the all the years of the Blazers. (http://coloradok5.com/specs.shtml) '69 is the hardest to find, but it doesn't really mean that they are more desireable or worth more. I have seen many fully restored/customized blazers selling for upwords of $15K. I paid $4 for mine (in the seattle area) and that seems to be a mid price point for a nice, but needs some work Blazer in the area. You can see what a '69 looks like in the link in my signature. If the front clip has been changed, I would look it over to see if it was done because the truck was in a wreck. Check the frame, check the rocker boxes, check the windshield frame...

Hey bouncy, I saw a 69 or 70 sitting for sale in front of the Bothell high school this weekend. It was from Az. You might want to look at it.

What color was it? I know that there is a Jimmy for sale in Bothell. It is listed on collectorcartader.com but it has a blown engine... I might have to take the long way home tonight....

15K is a little high. If its fully restored it could very well be worth it, but if its just cleaned up and not 100% original they're asking way too much. Even a Blazer in great condition is going to have some rust in the usual places. I don't know about how the 68 front clip would affect value either. I paid 3000 for my 71 and it was in great shape and drivable, but it still had rusted through rockers and rocker boxes.

70Jimmy...I would like to see your option sheet. I have never seen any proof of optional discs on any GM truck. everything i have seen says 70 and older, drum. 71 and newer, disc.
