Spid Question

I'm looking at a 1970 Chev longbox truck on Ebay. Everything the seller mentions except the posi rear with 3:08's is printed on the spid. Wouldn't posi ( if it was factory installed ) be on the spid label?

I have always thought that if factory installed it would be on SPID as I think posi was not part of any option package. That truck does not look like it has had many alterations. I would ask seller why he claims truck has posi. Nice looking truck and probably good buy if you can negotiate below buy it now price.

Re: Spid Question

That is a nice truck. If it was closer, it would be in my garage. The owner had it for sale 3-4 weeks ago. Very solid and original. Would have cost me a grand to get it home. Good luck. Make him and offer.

I was planning on calling him tonight. I'm 1000 miles away from the truck but would fly down and drive her home.

Re: Spid Question

I just wandered out & looked at the SPID on my GMC, it shows the axle ratio but does not specify limited slip, which the truck has.

Re: Spid Question

limited slip/posi should be on the SPID if it is original.
A lot of people will goose the throttle in the dirt and get 2 tires spinning and make the claim of LSD.

Re: Spid Question

Greg, there should be a G80 on the SPID, if it is factory. However, if it is a big block and 4-speed, it should say G87 (maximum traction).
