how low ?
I just got bout every thing to bag my Dually, I'm wonder'n how low it will sit with a basic "C" notch and 265/35/22 tire's ? I'd like to get 4" to 6" off the ground air'd out. If I have to I'll do big notch but would rather not have to do any mod's to bed floor .
Thanks Chris

Re: how low ?
i know some one with a bolt in c notch on a dually like yours and had to cut the bed out where the differential comes up so if you have to cut the bed floor anyway you might as well do a big notch. i want to say his frame was around 6 inches or more from the ground

Re: how low ?
oh by the way my truck lays frame on a 32 inch tall tire and my notch only sticks into the bed like 3 to 4 inches not sure without measuring but about that

Re: how low ?
What do you plan on doing with the rear bag setup? I'm debating bagging my dually too and really dont want to mess with cutting the bed either. I might go with an air over leaf setup , cheap and simple.

I will be home in Jan. for a few weeks and want'd to bag it then, but if I gotta mod the bed I wont have time, the bag's will have to wait I reckon. my goal is to be bout 4 to 6"s off the ground when air'd out , that way if I ever blow a line or a bag I can still drive home .

Re: how low ?
What did you spend on that SD rear set-up & what size tires did you wind up w/for the front rear (I read in the thread where you got new fronts)? Drop spindles? Nice job BTW....

the rear 4-link cost me $329 i think and the panhard bar was about 120. I have western chassis 3 inch drop spindles and i belive my new front tires are 29 inches tall. my other ones i had to beat the fire wall with a hammer and still they sat on the firewall when it was aired out

Re: how low ?
cochino12 does your truck have C notch in it now ? I just wanna be a little lower than your's when I'm air'd out . I went ahead and order'd an 8" notch from SD, but I'll probably cut it down so I dont have to raise the bed floor to much . I figure install the front bag's and level the rear to match the front.

Re: how low ?
I'm getting up to speed here so bear w/me. What bolt-in notches are you guys using? I'm assuming you guys plan to use flip kits vs. the more aggressively marketed shackle/hangers. Whose flip kit (the only one I've found was Western Chassis kits via Sport Truck Direct but WC's web site doesn't list flip-kit's)??
And this would be extremely helpful..... how about some pics of each (flip-kit & notches)? I know they're the same concept as the 1/2 tons in how they function. What I really want to see is how much more 'beef' th HD parts have vs. their lighter weight counterparts.

My main concern is the c-notches appear to be flat w/angles legs vs. a round notch. Based on info from Lakeroadster, the flat/angled notch is weak in the corners vs. the round notch. On a dually that is used for more than posing.... this is a concern. I'm guessing the dually notch is shaped differently because of the OD of the axle tube. Pics would be great. Material thickness as well if possible Thumbmaster .

Re: how low ?
Here's were mines at. Hope to be fitting the bed and draggin tomorrow. front is just set for the 16's for now but the rear will accomodate up to a 30" tire dia. for the inevitible switch to 22's. I built all the hard steel parts myself from scratch including all mounts, 4 bar, and watts link with nothing more than hand tools and a welder. Josh

Not much to those c-sections considering they're for a 1-ton. It looks about the same material thickness as the ones I installed on my 74. That's been my concern especially after things learned in the 'other' c-notch thread concerning strength vs. intended usage. They also have the angled notch v. a round notch which analysis suggests the corners can be a weak spot (analyzing & real world are two different things, but if the data suggests a weak spot, my preference is to figure out a way to eliminate it). The 'other' c-notch thread concerning strength vs. intended usage. Post #56 has the home-made notch I did which resembles the WC notch.... http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...ght=pipe+notch Looks like I'll be 'engineering' some frame channel reinforcements while installing the flip-kit. My goal was to achieve a 4/6 or 5/7 drop w/o negating the strength. I wanted the same thing I had w/my 74 (no cutting the bed floor).

Still on the to-do list finish clearancing the x-member for the drive shaft, boxing inside frame to tie into the notch, rear shocks, and replace a blown out brake cylinder in the driver side which means brake job too, and fab a hidden style reciever hitch. also not sure why the bag mounts look tilted in this video but they are level. I had 4 different levels and a angle guage on this thing during the fab. Josh
