Hatch Arm restoration

What have you guys done to refurbish your hatch arms. Ive thought about chroming them, but you would have to drill out all the rivets and then reasymble with bolts I would guess... not to mention 1000 small parts. How about gas charged arms... anyone done that? Any ideas?
What did you do Kev?
