Re: Rat Rod

I'm sorry, I missed the question about the transmission, it is the factory M/B auto trans. I don't think my bro is going chop it at this point.

Re: Rat Rod

Yes we did finally get the flame thrower to work, we had originally drilled some holes in teh stack, thinking that it needed more O2, that didnt work... So we filled in all the holes, my bro built an airtank and ran a feed line to the underside of the plug and now it lights off pretty reliably. I will get some video of it the next time he lights it off, its pretty cool. He drove it to work a few times now and it is finally getting 5 psi under load, long story short, we had to change out the compressor housing on the turbo due to "complications" from the turbo rebuild. Next step is to get the injection pump turned up and see what she does!

Re: Rat Rod

Wow, I didnt realize I hadnt updated this, well here goes. We finally "perfected" the flame thrower by adding an air line to pump in some oxygen, now it seems to light off fairly well. Here are some pics from a local cruise night we frequent. Enjoy!

Re: Rat Rod

I agree, its hard to classify, he took it to its first "showing" at the beginning of summer and this guy walks up with his buddy... they were disagreeing on what to "call" it.... The first guy says its a rat rod, the other guy is like hell no... it has way too much thought and engineering to be a rat rod. My bro and I are like "Eh" whatever. I think its a new category myself, like a "tech rat" or something, IDK

Re: Rat Rod

Ok everyone, a little update for you, so my bro and I went to local show over the weekend... dusk started to move in and so a few people did a few burn outs.... cool right? Well then when it got a little darker my bro fired up the flames and shut everyone up!

So here are the pics and a short video!

Re: Rat Rod

Nope, but some guy tried to light his cigar!

Thanks, the flames will hopefully go higher when he puts the air to it!
