Im about to do a much needed oil change and want to make sure I put the correct oil in my truck. Also im about to drain the 3spd. trans and refill it. Do I use 10w-30 for the engine and 80w-90 for the 3spd.? I searched and couldnt find a thing.

Re: what oil to use in my L6 and 3spd.

You would be best to use a diesel oil CI -4 10w30 if you can find it , oil for modern gas engines doesn't have enough Zinc in it to lube the flat tappets (cam followers/lifters) http://www.bobistheoilguy.com/forums/ubbthreads.php
look around in this link for a deeper explanation

We use wix 51060 anti drainback ,replaces long chev spin on , keeps the filter full instead of 1/2full at start up

As to the lucas , I don't know , the zinc additive is what is missing in new "gas" engine oil, they mostly have roller lifters

Rotella t or its equivalent is cheapest , wallmart supertech owneroperator oil has had good reports
