advice on engine rebiuld - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

Hi guys, I will be undertaking a rebiuld on my 1972 c10, it smokes bad, I will soon replace pistons/rings and all shells and bearings My question is what would be a good choice of cam and what cylinder compression is good for unleaded. Any advice on any of the above will be really cool, This IS my first attempt so be straight. Regards c10rookie

Is it a 350 and what are you wanting the engine to shine at? Towing, daily driver, some strip action? Manual or auto? Rear-end ratio?

That info will help the engine gurus suggest parts that will fill your needs.
