'70 1 ton disk brakes

I have a '70 C30 cab/chassis w/a Franklin motorhome on the frame, don't use it as much as I like cause of the drums. Decided that I am going to put disks on the front this winter. Been doing a quite a bit of reading and sounds like purchasing a complete cross member from a '73 - 87 C30/C20 and rebuilding it as necessary, would be the way to go. Read somewhere that the dually fronts were a little wider to match the rears, would getting a front off a C20 matter that much ? Would like to lower it a bit but doesnt seem that their is much out their and don't think I want to go the cost to bag it. So swapping out crossmembers sounds like the way to go. Any input on lowering or anything concerning this project would be appreciated.

You could swap the entire x-member from a later C30 or just swap the parts to your existing x-member. C20 stuff is the same w/o the Xtra HD brake hub/rotor.

Lowering the front is simple if swapping the parts. Western Chassis & Bell Tech offer 3" drop spindles that give you the drop w/o compromising ride quality or geometry vs. stock height.

It's like a highly skilled Morrocan sword fighter with a Damascus Steel Scimitar.....

Cubic inches is like Indiana Jones with a cheap pistol.

I am kind of leaning towards swapping x members, have been watching Craigs list, havn't checked out any salvage yards yet, for later model C30/C20's, acouple on their now w/454's and turbo 400's in the $1,000 range, has a 350 now, a little xtra power would be great, thanks for your reply. Do you have an idea of what a person could expect to pay for a x member ?

'Loaded' x-members (all parts hub to hub) for a 1/2 ton range from $100-200; expect that higher end for 3/4 thru 1-ton stuff. A good idea is to keep checking Craigslist for someone trashing a 3/4 ton Burb. Get what you need & part the rest (bunch of guys buy the doors for crew-cab trucks).

Thanks, so Burbs go pretty much the same way, '73 - '87 for interchangability on x-members ?
