Disc brake conversion question
I have the original drum brakes all around on my 67. The brakes are quick to lock up if pressed hard. Is this normal? I haven't driven one with drums in quite some time. I want to eventually swap tp disc. Are they really needed on all four or will just the front do? I will probably get a new kit for it, but the ones I see require 17" wheels. Do I have to change wheels to do this? I currently have the P225/60 R15 BFG's on 15" Weld wheels.

Re: Disc brake conversion question
You don't need 4 wheel disk brakes, 2 wheel is fine. The kits that require you to change to 17" wheels are the 13" brake kits and the standard disk brake kits are 11". 15" wheels are fine for those, as long as they are not the drum brake wheels and the ones on your truck are not. WES

Re: Disc brake conversion question
I believe it's normal due to the self-energizing effect of drum brakes.

Thanks Wes, I was looking on your site actually. What do you think the kit I need will cost? How many hrs. would it take to install for a profesional?

Re: Disc brake conversion question
Wes is spot on! I have disc/drum on my Blazer, and had the same on my 69 C-10. IMO that is plenty for what most of us do with our trucks. I am a KISS kind of guy, and GM did disc/drum forever. If it was ok for the old GM, it is ok for me
