Re: Best 350 crate?
I can't speak for the simplicity, but when my trucks ready it will a ramjet 350 for me. Highly drivable, but enough power.
In my fantasies it would be a special edition 427.

Re: Best 350 crate?
I put a 290 HP crate motor in my wifes chevelle that I got from the local Chevy dealer for around $1800 and it has been great .Plenty of power and very reliable and had a 2 or 3 yr warranty .You can get a 260 HP crate for even less .

Do you have any pics? So you just went to a chevy dealer and requested a 350 crate? did you specify what year engine you were lookin at?

Re: Best 350 crate?
best to first check online for dealers of GMcrate engines to get idea of the full range of different options and price then once you are familar go to local GM dealer and see what they will do as far on price with the type you have chosen//i far prefer buying it local but by comparison shopping for the same unit and showing local dealer your results may save you a bit of money as those prices can vary and aren't set in stone
the GM brand new crates have better warrentys and no used/reconditioned parts

Re: Best 350 crate?
If you know someone that works at a Chevrolet dealership you can probably get an even better deal than I got .Plus by going to your local dealer you save on shipping which with a motor is around $500 .They usually have plenty of crate engines in stock .Call around to different dealers and go with the best deal .I dont have any pics of mine but it looks just like any other stock 350 except my wife wanted some chrome valve covers and breather .I kept the original motor but the local engine builder wanted more to rebuild it to stock than the new crate motor was.

Re: Best 350 crate?
I would check with your local engine builders. There a guy local to me that has completly rebuild 350 long blocks for around $1200. Three year warranty. He's been in business for years doing machine work. Builds lots of circle track engines also.
