Question Help identifing tranny and rear end

I have an 250 L6 with a three on the tree manual tranny. From what I can tell the tranny is the original but I don't know what kind it is or what is in it. It is not a top shift there are 2 shift rods coming from the steering column that hook up to the tranny on the driver's side. I looked at all the pics on the novak website and didn't see any that look like it.

As for the rear end the only ID I can find on it is on the back side and upside down on the passenger's side. It reads 12345 and above it 67890.

Re: Help identifing tranny

Sorry, I'm a moron and don't know my rear end from my tranny. I posted wrong info. The number I put was for the rear end not the tranny. I am not familiar with tranny's or rear ends so for give my ignorance.

If the cover has 7 bolts holding it on it is most likely a Saginaw (SM326). There is another 7 bolt transmission which is a HD Muncie (SM330), but it is much less common. Please post a pic showing the side cover if you can.

Re: Help identifing tranny

OK here some pics. Also the ID on the driver's side of the tranny is
GM 6852645 (the 8 could possibly be a 9)
1 F29

It does have 7 bolts on the side.Name: IMG_1584.jpg

Re: Help identifing tranny

It is the saginaw. I had the same one. A very durable tranny IMO. I would stillbe using it, but I went lazy and switched to automatic.

I didn't look at your post good enough cause the term three on the tree would have clued me in that it wasn't a top shifter, sorry I sent you on the wrong track.
