I have a custom built one that is a thick piece of aluminum with slots for the vents.

It is 1/4" thick and as you can see, you would need to drill your dash pad and use some counter sunk screws with nuts to attach it. It also has a few light scratches and some spots that look like water spots. It could be sanded for a brushed look or polished to shine. let me know your thoughts.
