Wow, that brings back memories. I can remember the first time Candace drove my Burb, she looked so small, I almost cried, lol. Beautiful truck, carry a BIG stick daddy!

Nice truck, and nice gesture letting your daughter drive your truck. You must have some confidence in her driving abilities.

Yeah,
Thought about putting a rifle rack in the back window just to make the boys think twice... she actually made it through high school (class of 2010) without a lot of drama. Though the truck did take a trip into a cornfield soon after she first started driving it

Re: daughter driving my truck

I have 3 kids of driving age. They all would drive my truck but i didnt trust the oldest's daughter's driving techniques! The next younger daughter drove it around town, but my 17 year old son would drive it anywhere! We have his build thread attached in the signature.

I love to see kids involved in older trucks cause it is a great hobby and typically the only thing bad about this hobby is how to afford the beer and babes because of the parts!!!

Pretty trusting, trucks sweet, I was 16 when I got to drive the classic car, 65 malibu with a 327.... 4 days later and a tread depth gauge and guess who never got to drive it again had fun while I did though, hopefully she's a little smarter about it

Re: daughter driving my truck

I got an email from my oldest (15) about 2 hours after my wife got the truck home. This is what it said....
Dad,

I know what you have planned for the truck and I just want you to know that I love you and my room has been clean for a month now. My grades are good, and I get my license in a year. I love you.

My reply...

Coty,
Your mother has had her license for over 15 years and driving it home was the only time she will ever touch the steering wheel. I love you too.

Thats funny!! I have two kids, an 8 year old girl and a 6 year old boy. Since my truck has some rust, no a/c, no power windows, locks, etc, etc, they dont go near it. But I always tell them that some dday they will be fighting to see who gets to drive it.

Re: daughter driving my truck

My younger sister's a freshman in college, she wouldn't be caught dead in my truck, what with manual steering and brakes, and no A/C. Likes her Honda instead...

Are you kidding! I moved all the way from California to marry a texas girl (one that bought our chevy for $500 and then rebuilt the carb by herself!)

Re: daughter driving my truck

Ever since my 7 year old daughter discovered that she loves my truck the endless hours I spend on weekends messing with my truck have gone from me being a selfish jerk to me being a great dad, and how cute we are working together!

Re: daughter driving my truck

I gave my daughter my 87 K5 to drive to High school, I thought she was afraid to put it in 4 wheel drive until I found her video camera sitting on my desk one day, I decided to check out what my sweet kid was up to during her free time and found a bunch of hill climbing videos, they were starring my blazer with my daughter at the wheel. I acted mad but deep inside I was very proud! She was beating all the boys on the same hills. Of coarse she had an advantage, the boys were all driving Fords.

Re: daughter driving my truck

My graddaughter is 5 and she loves riding in Grandpas big green truck. But I was surprised when she told me why. Every car she has ever ridden in her entire 5 years has been nearly new. All kids have to sit in the back seat because of the law. Even her dads truck is a big quad cab Dodge.

She loves being able to sit in the front seat with me, not relegated to a rear seat. Hopefully someday she will get to drive it herself. She may change her mind about how much she likes it after trying to drive and old 3/4 ton 4sp 4X4 lol
