89 jimmy Front clip

Hey guys my wife and I got around to 89 Jimmy Front clip swapping my 84 GMC Dually. I noticed that after everything i need to Re wire my head light, turn and park right and horn plug that hooks in to the fire wall. Was wondering if it was just straight forward and match the wires color for color or?

Re: 89 jimmy Front clip

those 89-up headlights use a different type of connector on the back and MANY brands of wire end connectors can be bought separately and then grafted in on the existing wiring. i bought a firewall forward harness that had all the right ends already on it. just depends on your budget and how fussy you are. I always solder my splices, but sta-cons (crimp connectors) will work. three wires to the low beams and two to the high beam only bulbs. crossy

when I swaped in my 91 burban clip, I didnt even use the 91 harness. all of your wires will work with the new clip. You just need to re wire for the headlights.

Re: 89 jimmy Front clip

The last one I did was on an '85, and all of the colors were the same. The plug that goes to the combination valve for the brake warning light will need to stay with the firewall plug. Seems like it may be tan?

that wire was already on the new harness...you mean up by the fan shroud on the driver side right?

Re: 89 jimmy Front clip

Yeah, that's the one. I think my harness was from '91 w/ ABS, so it didn't have the wire. You should be good to go.
