I can't explain the actual physical differences, but the sbc towers mount in the forward set of holes on the frame/cross member and the I6 towers mount in the rear set of holes. However, you can mount the sbc on the I6 towers in the rear set of holes. Make any sense?

The I 6 towers will set your sb 3 1/2" rearward from factory location (plus or minus 1/8"). Good for weight transfer, but a little tight on HEI clearance. I have done 3 trucks with sb ,on the 6/250 towers......IMO, the factory should have done it that way. Good luck, crazyL
