Bed Swap Pointers?

I'm getting ready to replace the Swiss cheese bed on my truck with a much more solid one. Any advice on getting the old bolts loose? Someone said there are some welds to get through too, where would those be and how hard are they to get through? Any other things I need to be aware of? Thanks!

Re: Bed Swap Pointers?

if it's just a matter of swapping beds// there are but a few bolts holding bed onto the frame i normally just grind them down and lift the old bed off and place the new bed in place and use new bolts

Yes its just bolts.. You are better off buying new bolts. I just bought some from classic parts for like 10-20 bucks for the set. Just gring them off or cut the bolts.

Re: Bed Swap Pointers?

I used a cutting torch to cut the old bolts, then put in a new floor with new bolts.

Re: Bed Swap Pointers?

Thanks! I bought a new bolt kit for the swap. It'll happen this Saturday. Glad to be finally getting rid of all that rust!
