Need alternator swap help....
From all the articles posted, there seems to be two different ways of wiring up an internally regulated alternator. I need to know about the one that uses jumper wires over the clip that goes into the regulator. See pic. Once you've attached this piece over the clip, what is done with the remaining wires? There should still be a blue and a white wire leading to the alt, correct? Do these two wires clip into the top of the new alternator (but in a different style clip, correct)? The original red wire that hooked into the back of the original alt is hooked up the same way on the new alternator as well correct? I need this help so that I can get my truck on the road for the first time in over FIVE years!!!

One of the wires in your reg. plug should be switched ign. what I did on mine was run it to the field on alt, and get rid of the rest of the wires when I rewired for pass. side alt. My truck has ammeter, not sure if you have warning light. Been workinf for 7 yrs no probs. Good luck hope you get running John

What I did was run the 16brn wire to the field on the alt, and got rid of the rest of the wires. Works good.
oops misunderstood, Yes just pick up a connector for internal alt. and use same wires as before. Parts store should have one. I rewired mine to clean up the engine compartment, but the jumper plug will work okay Good luck.
