Proportioning valve ????

Is there a way test a brake system proportioning valve before it is installed? The brakes are not hooked up yet, but the PO thought the proportioning valve that is on the truck is bad.

Thanks

Re: Proportioning valve ????

take an ohm meter and connect it to the switch terminal and the body of the valve. apply air pressure to the rear port and watch the meter. It should zero out. do the same for the front port it should zero out again. You can center it with a pick with the switch out.
