Tire sizes

I am just curious i'm not really shopping fro tires yet but i need to come spring mine are pretty dry rotted. But what is the biggest practical tire i can run on my 71 c10 i know the fronts will be the limitations. i just want something to fill the fender a little more. I currently have some 245/75/16 but the back wheels look small and the front just a little.

Re: Tire sizes

I don't remember who is was but someone was running 33" tires on a two wheel drive wwhich filled them out completely. i am going to run 255/70/15 BF Goodrich Radial T/A's on mine. right now i have 30x9.5 R15 which are tall enough but not wide enough for me IMO.

Re: Tire sizes

If i remember right my current ones are 30.5 ish but 33's sound pretty awesome i would love to have a little more meat on my tires. would a skinny 33 be better or are most the limitations based on height?

and thanks for the help

Re: Tire sizes

My truck has 275/60/15's on it; it came factory that way. They're not the tallest tire, but they sure look better than the thin tires I see on most square bodies. I like 'em.

Re: Tire sizes

I am running 33x12.5x15s on my stock suspension 1/2 lwb 2wd with no issues, I was running 31x10.5s before and they looked good aswell. Only problem I have ever had with the 33s is slight rubbing on turn if I am going through a cross ditch or something.. but nothing major.

Re: Tire sizes

I'm looking at getting the 33x12x15 could you describe what a 'slight rub' is? I would rather it not rub!

Re: Tire sizes

I like the 275/60s, thats what I have. They are alot harder to find than the 33/12/15s

It would rub slightly on the inner well.. I have since lifted it when I did my disc brake swap, was quite a process in the end to get a 3" of lift without compensating anything to do with safety. I'll go through my photos and see if I got any decent pictures of it with the 33s on before I lifted it.

Re: Tire sizes

I think i wanna go with the 33's now that i've actually seen what they look like. would adding like a 1/4" wheel spacer make it not rub or use a wheel with less backspacing?
